In an interview with ESG Mena, Karim Mousa, Head, Electric Mobility, Siemens ME, says electric mobility start to become increasingly integrated in the MENA region.
Momentum is building up for electric vehicles and electric vehicles’ infrastructure in the Middle East and North Africa, he added.
Reviewing the company’s state of the art charging solutions, he said Siemens has been playing a key role in raising awareness in this regard.
“Siemens’ aim is to ensure universal charging system that works with different standards from different vehicles,” he said, adding that Siemens chargers are in line with the universal standards and are compatible with all electric vehicles.
He also reviewed Siemens’ superchargers that deploy state of the art technologies that can charge a vehicle in twelve minutes, enabling driving for up to 300 kilometres per charge.
For increased electric mobility, he said superchargers should be available on highways and stations and in areas where quick charging is needed.
During the interview, he said that Siemens built one of the region’s first off grid solar charging battery to power super chargers.
There is already a pilot project in the Middle East in this regard and Siemens hopes to bring more superchargers to the UAE soon.
“We have a pilot in Saudi Arabia and others are being built in other Arab countries,” he added.
Keen on increasing cooperation in the region, he said Siemens is always open to exploring cooperation opportunities and engaging with all stakeholders.
