Dubai-based technology and car services leader, CAFU, announces the launch of its first-of-its-kind autonomous and unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) technology to accelerate the company’s commitment towards planting one million Ghaf tree seeds in the UAE as part of its Ghaf Tree Project.
This groundbreaking technology addresses the global challenge of climate change and supports the UAE’s goal to become net-zero by 2050. The advanced UGV technology is equipped with custom seedball planting capabilities and tracks specifically designed to operate in desert conditions.
In 2021, CAFU introduced the ‘Ghaf Tree Project,’ a bold initiative aiming to re-green barren ecosystems across the Emirates by planting one million Ghaf seeds. The company collaborated with United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) for extensive research and development focused on seed optimization and viability. This partnership led to the innovative UGV technology, which is expected to quadruple the number of seeds planted, strengthening CAFU’s commitment to a greener future and supporting the UAE’s ecosystem.
The new technology not only accelerates the planting process but also ensures the survival of the Ghaf trees. Ghaf trees can thrive in some of the harshest environmental conditions with minimal water, symbolizing hope and inspiring innovative farming methods across the Emirates.
