The need for green solutions has never been greater as the world battles against one of the biggest challenges of our time, climate change. Time and again, innovation is underscored as the tool required to build a better, more sustainable and resilient future, and collaboration is a core component of this.
The Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) 2023, set to take place from the 15th to 17th of November at the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC), is a platform that brings together key players in the space to discuss the latest trends, showcase sustainable solutions, and drive forward climate action.
This year, Taiwan Excellence will be exhibiting at the event for the first time, and will be found at Hall 2, Booth 2D12.
ESG Mena takes a look at what visitors can expect from Taiwan Excellence at the event.
The best of Taiwan
Back in 1993, the Taiwan Excellence Awards were established by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, with the aim of celebrating the best brands and products Taiwan has to offer and elevating them internationally.
The red symbol of excellence is recognised worldwide, and the awards, the most prestigious in Taiwanese industry, are presented annually, following a rigorous selection process, assessing:
- Research and development,
- Design,
- Quality, and
- Marketing.
This year, at WETEX, Taiwan Excellence brings ten of these leading Taiwanese brands together to showcase 18 products and solutions.
Green tech & sustainable innovation as climate solutions
The Middle East is one of the regions set to be worst affected by climate change, and its impacts are already being felt. Innovation holds the key to solving many of these challenges and is the building block for creating a more sustainable, just, and equal world.
FENRI, ROCKER, HCP PUMP, Fine-Tek, CTCI, ACUO, PlainLiv, LOF SOLAR, ICP DAS, and Sauber are the ten companies selected that have demonstrated excellence with their ESG solutions.
Showcasing everything from water management solutions to solar panels, products from the companies at the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion tackle some of the key issues facing the region right now.
The ongoing water crisis, for example, will only intensify without action, and on the current trajectory, the region is set to face extreme water stress by 2050. As recently outlined by the UAE government, collective efforts are required for course correction. Moreover, while climate change is exacerbating the water crisis, water management is a crucial component of ensuring water security in the region.
At the Pavilion, visitors will be able to view IoT-based water management solutions, laboratory-grade water filtration systems, wastewater treatment solutions, drinking water filters and more, all solutions that can assist the region in tackling its water challenges.
Energy efficiency is also underlined as a central part of the path toward decarbonisation. It can provide over 40 per cent of the emissions cuts needed by 2040, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA).
The Taiwanese brands at the Pavilion will demonstrate how their products tap into this, and on the first day, at the “Building a Sustainable Future” product launch, FENRI, ROCKER, CTCI, ICP DAS, and Sauber will unveil the latest in water management, energy efficiency, and air quality control innovation.
A time for collaboration
While Taiwan Excellence’s participation in WETEX aims to foster greater economic and trade collaboration with the Middle East, exhibiting also demonstrates its commitment to collaboration in the climate fight.
Speaking about this and Taiwan Excellence’s debut at the event, Fu-Tai Wei, Director at Taiwan Trade Center, Dubai, said: “Taiwan Excellence’s presence at WETEX 2023 aligns with our commitment to fostering sustainable practices and cooperation between Taiwan and the Middle East. We are proud to participate and showcase 18 cutting-edge ESG solutions, as they reflect Taiwan’s dedication to innovation and environmental responsibility. We believe this collaboration will be instrumental in addressing the shared global challenges of water and energy management.”
WETEX comes just before COP28, a pivotal climate event where cooperation and collaboration will be paramount to set the world on the path toward achieving the Paris Climate Agreement goals.
