Transforming cities: Global Clean Cities Expo 2024

by Madaline Dunn

While the dust might have settled on COP28, the momentum around sustainability is only building. On the 5th of March 2024, for two days, the Global Clean Cities Expo 2024 will shine the spotlight on how we transform cities into clean, sustainable, and future-ready urban spaces, serving as a collaborative platform encouraging the exchange of ideas and experiences.

The sustainability expo is set to bring together over 1500 attendees, with 500 plus senior delegates, over 350 companies, 75 plus exhibitors/sponsors, and over 30 speakers.

The event also comes at a crucial time for climate action.

During the recent 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference or Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP28), climate experts shared deeply concerning projections on global warming, with some warning that overshooting the 1.5 degrees target is now “inevitable.”

Others are more optimistic and urge that by collectively ramping up action, the 1.5-degree ‘north star’ can be kept in grasp.

However, the science is clear: Governments and the private sector alike must accelerate action now.

Against this backdrop, Global Clean Cities Expo 2024 will see key players vital to climate efforts, come together to discuss challenges and solutions, and share expertise.

Attendees will have the opportunity to witness the latest cutting-edge technologies and solutions in renewable & clean energy, urban development, smart infrastructure and sustainable living, network with others sharing the same sustainability mission and unlock collaboration and partnership opportunities.

Across the two-day event, located at the Millennium Plaza Downtown Hotel, Dubai, there will be a closed-door conference running parallel to the exhibition to facilitate timely and important conversations on everything from clean energy to water treatment.

On day one of the event, participants can attend sessions on the future of clean energy and explore how to accelerate renewable energy adoption and integration in urban areas.

Elsewhere, attendees can listen to panel discussions on the circular economy and sustainable agriculture and receive key insights into eco-tourism and how to balance growth with environmental stewardship.

Day two will continue the discussion on clean cities, with talks on the electrification of urban transportation systems, smart infrastructure, biodiversity conservation and more.

Speaking about the event’s offerings, Mohammad Talha Sarwar, Project Manager, GCCE 2024 Dubai, commented: “The Year of Sustainability is causing a boom in the Middle East’s solar and other green industries, especially in the UAE. We bring together key industry players at the Global Clean Cities Expo 2024 Dubai to promote close relationships and assist companies in growing their footprint in the area while putting a focus on business excellence.”
