Sport Impact Summit, a new global event series on sport, sustainability, and health, will launch in Dubai this December, it has been announced.
Hosted at the Atlantis Hotel, The Palm, Dubai, from December 4 to 5, 2024, the event will convene athletes, sports organisations, sports teams, academics, green finance representatives, and corporations to share insights, collaborate, and drive action on planet and human health, it was shared.
Co-founded by Grateful Lemon founder Mike Ford, former Cricketer Sean Morris, and the CEO of Identity, Michael Gietzen, Sport Impact Summit will focus on seven key pillars:
- Innovation & Technology,
- Sustainability Sponsorship,
- Education & Coaching,
- Human Health,
- Footprint & Net Zero,
- Equality & Inclusion, and
- Infrastructure & Transport.
Sky Sports News presenter and broadcaster David Garrido and Paralympian Marc Woods are set to co-host the inaugural event.
Event co-founder Mike Ford commented: “Sport has a unique power to unite like nothing else. It’s a powerful educational tool and one of significant influence. With Sport Impact Summit, we aim to drive change and support sustainability and health projects worldwide, including further investment in sport sustainability programmes.”
Meanwhile, Sean Morris called the event a “call to arms” for both sustainability in sport and for sport in sustainability.
Michael Gietzen added: “We’re bringing together the world’s most influential figures from sports, science, and commerce as our Impact Champions. Their stories will inspire others to join this collective effort towards a more sustainable and healthier world.”
