Tunisia’s Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines has signed six Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with nine European companies for the production of green hydrogen.
The companies involved in the deals include TUNUR; Aker Horizons; Verbund; Savanah Energy; Hydrogène de France; Amarenco; H2 Global; DEME Energy; and Abo Energy.
Signed in the presence of Industry, Mines and Energy Minister Fatma Thabet Chiboub, the deals, according to the government, align with its 2050 green hydrogen strategy.
By that year, the nation has a production target of 8.3 million tonnes of green hydrogen and its derivatives.
This includes 2.3 million tonnes for the local market and 6 million tonnes for export (with a total investment value of around €120 billion).
More broadly, Tunisia aims to increase its renewable energy share to 35 per cent by 2030.
