Oman’s Ministry of Energy: Opening of the first green hydrogen station

by Hadeer Elhadary

The Ministry of Energy and Minerals in Oman has announced the opening of the first green hydrogen station in the country, inaugurated under the patronage of His Excellency Eng. Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals.

According to the statement, the ministry considered this station “a pioneering step towards enhancing sustainable mobility”, as the station relies on electrolysis technology using solar energy to produce up to 130 kg of green hydrogen per day, in addition to providing fast charging services for electric cars and refueling with traditional fuel.

The statement noted that the project, in collaboration with Mwasalat and the Namaa Power and Water Procurement Company, will enable the operation of 15 hydrogen-powered vehicles within the public transport fleet. This initiative aims to create an integrated model that supports low-carbon mobility and helps achieve zero-emission goals by 2050.
