Deloitte Launches Upskilling Platform for Workforces

by Madaline Dunn

Professional services firm Deloitte has announced the launch of Deloitte Academies, a new learning platform aimed at upskilling workforces with key skills for the future, including in “high-demand” areas such as AI, sustainability and product innovation.

Alongside these hard skills, the firm’s platform will also focus on what it called “human skills,” such as creativity, team building, agility, and effective communications.

According to Deloitte, these learning experiences are tailored to a variety of worker segments, from technologists and front-line workers to managers and C-suite executives.

The new platform will also incorporate four existing programs: AI Academy, Sustainability Academy, its Leadership Programs for HR Executives and Product Academy.

“Deloitte Academies offers a range of programs supporting clients with the goal of putting humans at the center of everything they do as they try to remain competitive in a market filled with uncertainty and rapid change that’s taxed even the best leadership teams,” said Josh Haims, principal, Deloitte Consulting LLP, and Deloitte Academies portfolio leader in a statement.

The company shared that it is investing more than $2 billion in global technology learning and development initiatives to boost skills in AI and other areas.

Indeed, amidst rapid AI adoption, there is a growing skills gap within the global workforce.

Research from UST earlier this year found that while 92 per cent of large companies perceive AI as a key lever for success, 76 per cent cite a severe shortage of AI-skilled personnel.

Likewise, while the demand for sustainability skills increases, demand is outstripping supply. LinkedIn’s 2023 Global Green Skills Report, for example, found that just one in eight workers have green skills.

“Our people are Deloitte’s most important asset. Our consistent investment in the growth and development of our people is a differentiator. We are thrilled to be capitalizing on our rich history of growing our people and finding ways to share this commitment and excellence with our clients,” said Anthony Stephan, Chief Learning Officer for Deloitte US.
