Lapita unveils series of sustainability initiatives

by Madaline Dunn

Lapita, Dubai Parks™ and Resorts has shared the details of a series of sustainability initiatives.

One of these initiatives is the introduction of an advanced hydroponic farming system within the resort, cultivating organic vegetables on-site for direct use in the property’s restaurants.

In addition to this, it has also implemented a water bottling system, where glass bottles are reused and filled with in-house drinkable water.

Lapita has also initiated a plastic bottle recycling program in collaboration with Simply Bottles to transform collected plastic bottles into threads, producing various items such as clothing, caps, and bags.

Further, it was shared that it is also a holder of the Green Key Certification, which guides the decisions made across the hotel’s operations.

Additionally, the property has launched its ‘Meatless Mondays’ programme for staff, promoting a culture of sustainability and vegetarianism among the hotel team and aimed at curbing waste associated with meat consumption.

Beyond promoting more sustainable food choices, water conservation, and recycling, the hotel also shared its renewable energy efforts, with the hotel featuring 90 solar panels that harness energy to heat the water in guests’ rooms.

Solar power is also used for outdoor lighting.

Moreover, the resort has transitioned to energy-efficient LED lights and bulbs along with motion sensors in an effort to lower its carbon footprint.

On the mobility side of things, electric vehicle (EV) chargers are also installed on the property.

Commenting on these initiatives and what they represent, Faiek El Saadani, General Manager of Lapita, Dubai Parks™ and Resorts, said: “Lapita is proving to be a beacon of sustainability, demonstrating that luxury and responsibility can go hand in hand. Our actions speak for our commitment to preserving our planet, paving the way for a future where eco-friendly practices and premium hospitality unite seamlessly.”
