Tadweer rebrands and launches new waste strategy

by Madaline Dunn

Tadweer (Abu Dhabi Waste Management Company) has announced it has rebranded as Tadweer Group.

Alongside this announcement, it has unveiled a new strategy for waste management, set to unlock value from discarded items and set new standards in the circular economy.

The company shared that the new strategy and brand build on its achievements across 2023, including agreements with the governments of Jordan, Greece, Japan and Uzbekistan, which it said contributed to the UAE’s bilateral relations and laid the foundation for bringing its approach to new markets.

Last year, Tadweer also launched several projects and partnerships focused on using advanced technology to drive forward sustainability.

For example, Tadweer is helping to develop one of the region’s largest waste-to-energy plants and is exploring opportunities with emerging technologies such as waste-to-sustainable aviation fuel.

At COP28, Tadweer also partnered with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) to launch a Waste to Zero initiative to convene the international community to decarbonise the waste management sector.

Speaking about the development, Ali Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Tadweer Group, said: “As we embark on this transformative journey, Tadweer Group is well-positioned to bring innovative thinking and reinforce our commitment to a more sustainable waste management landscape. We believe that waste is not just a challenge to be managed but an opportunity to create a sustainable future for generations to come.”

“Our commitment to unlocking the potential in every discarded item reflects our dedication to pioneering solutions that contribute to a circular economy. By setting new benchmarks and embracing innovation, we aim to encourage society to change their perception of waste and embrace the change the sector is undergoing.”
