Dubai Chamber of Commerce—a key member among the three chambers operating under Dubai Chambers—has been awarded the “Words into Action” Sustainability Year label, recognizing its pioneering role in promoting sustainability values and positive impact in line with the UAE’s vision for a more sustainable future .
The label was granted under Dubai Chamber’s ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Sustainability Year initiative, launched last year by its Business Ethics Centre. The program is designed to help companies and institutions evaluate their readiness and maturity in adopting ESG criteria, while also appreciating efforts made to foster sustainable growth .
The ESG label aims to encourage the business community to adopt and refine practices that yield positive societal and environmental impact and uphold good governance. It also recognizes companies’ efforts toward sustainability .
Eligible companies—those at least two years old, regardless of size—can apply for the label. Receiving the label offers several benefits, including alignment with best practices, enhancement of brand reputation, added value for attracting potential investors, and a competitive edge regionally and globally.
Participants receive a detailed assessment report highlighting areas for improvement and an overall maturity rating based on how well they’ve integrated ESG criteria compared to peers.
The label development process involved a comprehensive evaluation by internationally accredited experts, reviewing regional and global regulatory frameworks and reporting mechanisms to identify key drivers measuring the maturity of ESG adoption. The business community was involved throughout to ensure alignment with global best practices and adherence to both local and international requirements related to readiness and ESG reporting .
ESG standards are increasingly considered a strategic priority for organizations of all sizes, as businesses integrate sustainability goals into core operations—including transparency in reporting, minimizing environmental impact, social responsibility initiatives, and adherence to ethical governance principles .
Dubai Chamber’s Business Ethics Centre plays a pivotal role in promoting responsible and sustainable business practices. It provides platforms, tools, and expertise to help organizations integrate governance, sustainability, and social responsibility into their institutional frameworks, thereby enhancing performance, competitiveness, and societal impact,
