Zayed Sustainability Prize, the UAE’s pioneering global award that recognises and rewards small and medium-sized enterprises, nonprofit organisations, and high schools for their impactful, innovative and inspiring sustainable solutions in the categories of Health, Food Energy, Water and Global High Schools, will have a strong presence at the UN Climate Change Conference in Sharm el-Sheikh.
Since 2008, through its 96 winners, the US$3 million Prize has impacted the lives of more than 370 million people across the globe.
As part of the UAE Pavilion, located within the conference’s Blue Zone, the Prize will be hosting several functions and activities throughout COP 27.
Below is a list of the main events that the Zayed Sustainability Prize will be presenting at the conference.
All activities taking place at the UAE Pavilion Theatre will be live streamed on the UAE Climate Change Special Envoy’s YouTube channel.
Youth around COP

Prize Youth Ambassadors will share content on the Prize’s channels as they explore the activities at COP and translate what they are seeing and experiencing through social media.

Music for Sustainability

The Prize will host a musical performance by Sudanese beneficiaries of the Prize, inspired by the Prize’s goal to provide a more sustainable future for all.

Lighting Up the World

A TEDx-style demonstration highlighting the impact of the Prize on 2015 winner Liter of Light and how it has gone on to change the world, one light at a time.
The Filipino-born global grassroots movement has been using its platform to extend lighting access to over one million households across more than 30 countries since 2013, and its impact is still growing.

Showcasing sustainability success stories: Lessons from Africa
Tuesday, November 15, 2022, 15:00-15:45 Egypt Time, UAE Pavilion Theatre
A 45-minute panel discussion that explores the opportunities for organisations and businesses to accelerate sustainable development in Africa, with the speakers’ sharing examples of how businesses are successfully implementing sustainable business strategies that support economic growth and poverty reduction.
The session will be structured as a Q&A between the moderator and guests, followed by audience questions.
