Taiwan to Host Asia-Pacific’s Inaugural Circular Economy Hotspot, Driving Cross-Border Collaboration

by Hadeer Elhadary

For the first time, the internationally renowned Circular Economy Hotspot (CE Hotspot) will be held in the Asia-Pacific region, with Taiwan as the inaugural host. The Asia-Pacific Circular Economy Roundtable & Hotspot 2025 (APCER & Hotspot 2025) will take place in Taipei from October 20–23, 2025, and registration is now open.

Co-hosted by Taiwan’s Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture, and the Circular Taiwan Network, the event will focus on the theme “Leading Circular Collaboration” and the global initiative “Circular Collaboration for Climate Crisis (CC4CC)”. It will explore how Good Ideas in the circular economy can be transformed into Good Business through Good Governance, using the Circular Trilogy framework to position Taiwan as a hub for circular economy innovation and cooperation in the Asia-Pacific.

Step Inside Taiwan’s Circular Economy — Six Industry Tours Announced

On October 21, APCER & Hotspot 2025 will offer six themed industry tours, covering:

  • Agriculture & Food

  • Plastics & Packaging
  • Community-Driven Circular Business Models

Participants will visit Asia Plant Organic Farm, Hop Lion Feather Works Corp., TSMC Taichung Zero-Waste Manufacturing Center, Taipei 101, the Sustainable Materials Library (SML), and Spring Pool Glass.

These immersive tours will showcase Taiwan’s circular innovations — from zero-waste farming and textile recycling to semiconductor resource recovery, green building, sustainable materials, and glass upcycling — highlighting how circular design and partnerships are turning ideas into action.

International Dialogue & Industry Showcases

On October 22, global experts will discuss how governments are shaping national circular economy strategies, alongside Asia-Pacific perspectives on global trends. Highlights include a special focus on Taiwan’s draft Circular Economy Roadmap.

The day will also feature showcases of circular innovations across six industries — agriculture & food, textiles, high-tech, construction, plastics, and key materials — demonstrating how Taiwan and the Asia-Pacific region are responding to global developments such as the Global Plastics Treaty.

In the evening, a Business Matchmaking Session will create valuable opportunities for Taiwanese companies and organizations to connect with circular economy partners from across the Asia-Pacific and around the world.

System-Level Enablers & Thematic Sessions

On October 23, the program will focus on system-level enablers, with five parallel sessions covering:

  • Policy & Governance
  • Financial Enablers
  • Business Transformation
  • Trade & Traceability
  • Consumer Engagement

Home to one of the world’s most concentrated and diverse circular economy ecosystems, Taiwan will showcase a proven circular economy model through immersive experiences that go beyond success stories — offering participants an inside look at the design, processes, and collaborative models driving every decision.
